Biography
Dr. Shiana Montanari is a clarinetist and woodwind private instructor based in Grand County, CO. She performs actively with Hijinx Clarinet Quartet, ppp Trio, and Laissez-Pair. She currently serves on the board of Grand Concerts, a nonprofit organization that brings world-class musicians to Grand County.
Dr. Montanari's solo career includes Guest Artist performances with Creighton University, the Southwest Civic Winds, Wartburg College, and San Juan College. As a chamber musician, she has performed at International Clarinet Association ClarinetFests, NACWPI National Conferences, International Clarinet Association Low Clarinet Festivals, CMS Regional Conferences, the American Single Reed Summit, and Texas A&M's Clarinet Colloquium. She completed performance and master class tours of Midwestern and Southern states in 2017 and 2019 with Hijinx Clarinet Quartet and Ligeti Split Wind Quintet, respectively.
Upcoming 2025 projects include a world premiere performance at the ICA Low Clarinet Festival in January, a performance with Hijinx Clarinet Quartet in April, and a commission and recording project with Hijinx Clarinet Quartet.
Dr. Montanari earned her DMA and MM degrees in Clarinet Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her BA degree in Clarinet Performance from Fort Lewis College. Her teachers include Dr. Diane Barger, Dr. Joshua Mietz, and Dr. Mark Walters on clarinet; Dr. Paul Haar and Dr. Doug Owens on saxophone; and Dr. Tammy Tanner and Allie Movesian on flute.
